Old Salem Museums & Gardens Administrative Offices is a restored 18th-century town with gardens, museums, and shops. The Moravian settlement of Salem offers costumed staff and hands-on activities. Visitors can explore the architecture, dine in the Tavern, or shop at the Winkler Bakery and craft shops without paying admission. However, for a richer experience, access to on-site museums, houses, and workshops is recommended.
It was a Sunday so I was not able to experience the full historical significance. I did like the peaceful walk studying the architecture. The plaques were helpful. The lot 63 bakery was a great surprise with the group of folks sitting around playing instruments.

It is a very fun and beautiful old town to visit that immerse you in history. You get to experience how things were done a few hundred years ago. The staff was amazing at every building you walked into. They give you so much information about that time period as well as the history of the people that lived there. A must see if you love history. They also have fun little shops like a bakery, coffee shop and a lounge of sorts with live music. Fun fun fun!

It’s always a fun experience to walk around Old Salem. Not sure if it was off-season this time, but there were very few people around. Last time I was here for fall, it was so crowded and so many shops were open. It was still nice to walk around the streets and take some pictures. Some of the museums needed tickets for entry but we didn’t have it. It feels like you’re back in time walking the stone roads and seeing the old architecture.
Ajimon T — Google review
My family and I visited and just did a self guided tour (we did not purchase tickets) because we wanted to check it out the place first to see if it was worth it. Just to kill a couple of hours walking around on a beautiful day was well with it and we will definitely be back to see the inside of the houses and shops. People are dressed up for the times and the explain how things were made in each specific shop. From the beautiful landscape, houses and just walking down the old stone roads, I recommend taking a stroll back in time in Old Salem.

Went for a field trip and had a great time, we wish it would have been longer (so we stayed!). Everyone working here really enjoys talking about the culture and lives of the people who lived there. They’re knowledgeable and fully immersed in what they’re talking about. The bakery was also fun, and we plan to bring the whole family back.

Such a unique experience full of history and architecture! We learned so much about wood working, gardening, fabrics, etc. This space was FULL of history and everyone you encountered was excited to tell you all about it!

Came here for just a few hours while I was passing through town with my family. Pretty cool to learn about the history and see the old buildings, but like I said, we weren't able to stay long and it was in the '90s.

We really enjoyed our morning walk around old Salem and found our way into one of the buildings where the attendant explained to us that only 3 of the buildings were free to go into. She took out a map and explained how it all works. It was our first time and we weren't interested in paying to see stuff, so that was helpful to know. She also told us about the old cigarette vending machine they had, now stocked with artwork the size of cigarette packs that you can buy. Each tab you pull has a different type of art by different artists and she explained what you get with each one. I bought 2 to give to my niece and nephew and can't wait to see what they get. Anyway, we wandered around old Salem and stopped at the bakery (nice gift shop and you can buy some Moravian baked goods - the ginger snaps were delicious and I wish I'd bought more). The single sisters home was not open and we didn't go into the church. There appeared to be something going on and a small band was playing in the park across from the church. The fall leaves were beautiful. A great introduction to old Salem.

Pilot Mountain State Park

Nature & Parks
Hiking & rock climbing on iconic, 2,400-ft. Pilot Mountain with a separate riverfront area.
Absolutely amazing hike with stunning views—I already can’t wait to go back, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing! This trail came highly recommended, and it completely lived up to the hype. The hike itself is easy and enjoyable, with a mild climb that’s perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a relaxed outdoor experience. We parked at the top, which made for a shorter trek, but if you’re up for a longer hike, starting from the lower parking lot is a great option. The weather was perfect, and the temperature made it even more enjoyable. The trail is clean and well-maintained, with nice, tidy bathrooms at the top—always a plus! It’s a very family-friendly spot; we saw lots of families with young kids and even a few dogs happily making their way up the trail. Loved watching a group of rock climbers scaling the cliffs. It was awesome to see their skill and determination up close!Pictures and videos don’t fully capture how beautiful this spot is, but trust me—it’s worth seeing for yourself 🥹 Whether you’re here for the views, a peaceful hike, or just to soak in nature, this place is a gem!

Pilot Mountain State Park is a true gem with a mix of natural beauty and intriguing history. It’s incredible to think that this striking peak was once the sandy floor of an ancient ocean—what a reminder of how much the earth has changed over time! The fact that the summit is now a sanctuary for birds makes it even more special, offering a peaceful space for wildlife to thrive. The park’s trails provide fantastic views and opportunities to connect with nature, whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a scenic escape. A visit here is both relaxing and inspiring—a must-see in North Carolina!

Had a beautiful day on this mountain!! Views were breathtaking! It was a little confusing on getting up the mountain. They only open the gate limited times per day. I would suggest driving up. There is only one transport bus, and it runs every 20 min. So we waited almost an hour each way. They were doing the best they could, and we appreciated them for it! But definitely go if you are in the area!
Angie P — Google review
We parked at the bottom of the mountain at the visitors center and began our hike up to the top following the blue trail markers. The sign at the bottom said it was 3.5 miles each way. My watch showed that was pretty darn close, since our round trip was approximately that. It's a good hike up to the top. Some windy trails, but not too difficult overall. Some steeper elevations at times. But it was a nice, quiet hike, as it appears that most people just like to drive up to the top, park, take pictures and then drive back down. That made the trails less populated for us, which was nice. The views from the top (and close to the top) are gorgeous. I loved the signage about tyke surrounding areas and the birds to keep an eye out for.Ultimately, always a great experience. I love that they have bathrooms at the bottom and the top of the mountain and a water filtration device at the bottom now. Nice touch for all of us thirsty hikers!!

Wonderful place to hike with family and friends. There are many trail heads. Some are easy and some are strenuous. You can choose the route you would like to. We hiked grind stone trail ( blue circle) and went around the pilot knob( red square) and returned through yellow circle( 3 bears gully) which finally connects to grind stone trail. It was worth the half day of hike. The view is beautiful up there. We met a 84 years lady who was so energetic and said she hikes the knob every Sunday. God bless her with many more years of energy. There are river side trails which are easy to do with small kids. We will do that next time. Totally, this place is a must go.

The area boasts a breathtaking landscape rich with natural beauty. It's the perfect spot to pause and take in the stunning vistas around you. Brightly colored wildflowers blanket the ground, swaying gently in the breeze alongside lush grasses that rustle softly. Meandering waterways reflect the sky, creating a serene atmosphere while towering trees provide shade and shelter for a variety of wildlife. Rocks, scattered throughout the terrain, add character and texture to the scene. The harmonious sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves contribute to an overall sense of tranquility, making this place an oasis of peace and wonder. This mountain is flaunty without being pretentious for the surrounding landscape.
MAJIK F — Google review
A beautiful place to visit year round. Folks mostly prefer to hike around the trails but it's a long way to the top. A nice winding road to the top which is more than a mile long. There is a gate at the entrance which is closed when the parking lot at the top is full, you may have to wait roughly for an hour near visitor center. Visitor center is good stop before or after visit to the top of mountain. It has few things on display and a store to shop for memorabilia, staff is kind and helpful even though they get asked about same things over again. Facilities at top of mountain and near visitor center is decent.

The Andy Griffith Museum, located in Mount Airy, NC, is a 2,500-square-foot space dedicated to the life and career of the late actor Andy Griffith. Founded by his lifelong friend Emmett Forrest, the museum boasts the world's largest collection of Griffith memorabilia. Visitors can explore items from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock sets as well as personal pieces like a rocking chair made by Griffith's father.
Perhaps the number one thing to do in Mount Airy and we really enjoyed it. Less than an hour to tour through this small museum, watching the clips from movies and TV shows, viewing the exhibits and reading through the explanations of all the memorabilia. Lots to see!I think it's best to come early just after they open as it's not a very large space and it does get crowded. And don't miss the Siamese Twins Museum across the street - there is a combined admission.

Well worth the price of admission. A lot of memorabilia from the Andy Griffith show & movies he was in during his career. Admission is around $10 per person & open 7 days a week. We visited early in the morning & there was a small group of people there at the time. Takes about an hour to see all the exhibits.

Additionally, it houses the zMAX Dragway for NHRA events.
I absolutely loved this experience and enjoyed every moment of it. We arrived early, around 5:30, and there was already a two-way line forming. They opened right on time at 6:00, and at first, I thought it seemed pretty simple. But as we drove in, the details became more and more impressive. They let you know which radio station to sync with, and the music really added to the atmosphere. It was amazing! Knowing they partnered with Food Lion made it even more worthwhile, and I felt like what I paid was completely worth it.After the drive, you get to visit a village with fun activities, prizes for everyone in the family, and even snow! It was such a well-rounded experience. I 100% recommend it and truly appreciate everything Food Lion does for the community.

Everything was awesome. The light show was amazing, and I loved how music was perfectly synchronized with lights. They played a movie and you're able to take pictures with Santa at the christmas village. The only thing we disliked was the long wait before entering due to the large number of vehicles in line. Got there around 6:30 pm and went in about 8:30 pm (maybe the express lane would be a better option). Overall, it was a great experience for all our family members.

We did the Christmas light thing. Was really good. The line outside wasn't too bad, maybe 30 mins, inside took more than an hour to drive though. So many lights.

Things happen very quickly here. The banking is honestly wild and I’ve never felt anything like it, especially if you’re pushing 100mph+ over it. A wonderful track, though - really allows for a crazy amount of speed while maintaining some fun maneuverable sections. I’ve never felt more like Ricky Bobby and that is honestly a very fulfilling experience.
Kasper K — Google review
Came to see the lights tonight. There is no one directing traffic at the entrance. Poor signage and don’t bother purchasing tickets in advance because they put you in a long line with those paying cash. Once you get inside the lights are very far few in between. The amount of money they are making they can aleast have cones that separate the slower traffic from the faster. Complete shit show. 10/10 do not recommend wasting your money.

Such an awesome experience. The staff is super friendly and seem like genuinely enjoy being there. For a casual fan I’d say expect to spend a couple hours. For the hardcore enthusiast, like myself, you could spend all day there. There’s just so much to see. The layout of the museum just makes sense.Concession prices are very reasonable. $2 for a water or soft drink is more than fair. The simulator is ran on iRacing software so it’s legit.

I got the basic package had an admission ticket, lanyard and simulator experience and it was worth it! It seems a bit pricy but they have pretty good amount of interesting stuff and experience. Even though you don’t have a simulator ticket there is a section you can try the driving on a seat. Just not inside the car. They also have a tire change experience and they teach you how to do it very friendly. You can buy a photo of yours too. It was a fun experience!
Jiyeon P — Google review
Pretty cool despite my not being a NASCAR fan and knowing almost nothing about it going in. There was a good variety in exhibit styles, so there's stuff to look at and read, interactive things, audio, video, and more. The place is huge, so it's information overload after a while, especially without knowing much going on. But there's something for all ages and interest levels.

Really disappointed in the amount of cars. I was expecting to see many of the older cars. Talladega museum was definitely better. Also the simulator was not enjoyable because people can not follow simple directions and the museum didn't enforce any rules.

It was interesting. They would benefit from having a theater with the history of Nascar rather than the little screen running in a loop. They would benefit from more interactive things like the virtual racing and such. But it was neat and if I was more into Nascar it might even have been great.

Must see in the Charlotte area. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior while visiting here. Absolutely amazing experience walking through and learning about all that Billy had done as an evangelist. Everybody was so friendly and welcoming. Just what I have needed for a very long time. 🙏God is good ! Billy's childhood home is on the grounds and he and his wife Ruth are also buried there. There is also a cafe and gift store.

My husband and I were fortunate to secure tickets for the Billy Graham Christmas dinner and carriage ride, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the warmth of the large fireplace in the foyer to the remarkable dinner, everything was exceptional. The dinner was served family-style, and we had the pleasure of sitting with two other couples who quickly felt like old friends. The conversations were delightful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Afterwards, we toured the grounds, visited the Grahams’ home, explored the bookstore, where I loved entering in at the foot of the cross. We purchased keepsakes and a much-needed blanket and hot chocolate for the chilly yet beautiful carriage ride. The entire evening was a beautiful experience, and we feel truly blessed to have been part of it. We’re already looking forward to next year!

My husband and I were in the Charlotte area, and I had seen this come up on the map. I didn’t know what to expect, because I didn’t get a chance to look into it before we headed there. What a surprise!First off, the doorway is a huge cross when you walk in. Absolutely beautiful and what a beautiful reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice. As you walk in, there’s a welcome desk. Everyone was so wonderful! There is a free tour that takes about an hour and a half. We thought we might just see a building, but it was so much more than that!We did as much of the tour as we could, but when we made plans to go there we didn’t anticipate a tour or staying long. There is a cafe for some food and drinks, and there is also a gift shop with all kinds of things and lots of books whether they are bibles in many different translations, study bibles, books on spiritual warfare, devotional, etc. My husband ended up getting a Billy Graham study Bible, and he loves it. Around the path outside, are the graves of Billy and his wife.We had a lovely visit here. Anyone who knows the Graham family, has been to one of his events, is a Christian, or loves a truly inspirational story, would enjoy this. We plan to bring my in laws when they visit. Billy was a strong man of faith and lived for Jesus making it his mission to bring as many to Christ across the world as possible. When you walk out of the building back through the cross, if you look up, you will see written “I am coming quickly.” A reminder for us all to be ready.

The Library has undergone some significant upgrades since I was last here (probably 15 years ago). Reverend Graham's story is presented in an engaging way. There are lots of places to sit throughout the tour. The first few galleries are viewed as a tour group and then you can easily move at your own pace. While you will hear about salvation decisions and ways to donate, there is no pressure to do either. Visiting and tours are free. Reservations are strongly recommended during the Christmas season (though admission is still free) and weekdays are less crowded than Saturdays. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and spent about two hours on the property. There were plenty of other visitors, but no space felt crowded. We spent a few minutes at the Grahams' graves after touring the library and less than 10 minutes in the home place. (We walked in the house about 10 minutes ago before closing and we're treated like we still had hours to visit). The staff is helpful and knows the answers to just about anything you might ask. Well worth the visit and you will hear about an inspiring life without having to deal with the drama of current political differences. Billy Graham spoke of love over hate and the love of God being for everyone. This is a wonderful part of his legacy.

I brought my kids to the Billy Graham Library this past Saturday. We read and studied about Mr. Billy Graham before we went so we would have a good background. My children just turned 13 and they loved it! We toured, shopped at Ruth’s Attic and at the Dairy Bar. Everything was excellent. Thank you for continuing the legacy, and thanks to everyone at the Library for being so hospitable. We are looking forward to going back for Christmas.

The park also features the Harbor Waterpark for summer fun and the new aviation-themed section called Aeronautica Landing with five immersive attractions.
Family reunion time! We drove in from AK, TN, TX, and NC. The parking was easy and the entry in to the park was simple. Make sure you purchase tickets on line it will save you money and time. There were six of us and we had all different likes and excitement levels. Ages ranged from kid, adulting-teen, adult-with motion sickness issues, and mid-life crazy. 😄 the area was very clean and maintained. I rode nine roller coasters and by far my favorite was the Fury. We also visited the water park and found it equally fun and refreshing. The food was typical fair but it was good. Don’t bring cash, card is the preferred method. However if you do bring cash there are ATM-type machines that will convert you dollars to a card. I found the employees were generally pleasant and some were funny. The overall experience was memorable! I’ll be back if ever in the area again.

It was horrible! Signs said 'SAVE TIME, BUY TICKETS ONLINE'. We did, stood in a 300 yard long line to be told the tickets were no good. We were told to get in another long line to correct the tickets. Got to the front of that line, only to be sent to ANOTHER LONG LINE! Almost everyone in line was having the same issue. It was madness! After all that, we just wanted to go home (hour and half away). My niece had no issue getting in...she said only 3 roller coasters were even open anyways! OVERALL BAD EXPERIENCE! Sorry

Went to see the Christmas lights. Tried the Groupon website and got tickets for $29.99 USD/adult (saved $23 USD each ticket). Did not realize parking was going to be $30 USD for general parking or $40 USD for VIP parking. Everyone has to walk through metal detectors and some people get their bags checked by staff. Rides and roller-coasters were running at night. Fun to look at the lights.
A C — Google review
They decorated the park very well, however they lack accommodating big crowds. We went 10 days before Christmas and they were extremely busy, so much in fact that I was only able to ride 4 rides and catch the last half of the Peanuts Christmas play. That's with me also buying one fast pass to one of the rides (Copperhead Strike). We got there 30mins early (430pm). They were able to get people through decently quick. Took 35mins to get through toll, park, metal detectors, and turnstiles/entrance. I bought my tickets online to save some time. I suggest everyone who visits to do so. It's a tad cheaper online than at the park and it saves you time. They have plenty of events/shows and things to do with family but honestly there is no way to do it all nor are you able to ride all the rides in one day due to the long queue lines to most rides. If you come with family, plan out your day and give yourself 30-60min wait times to ride whatever ride you wanna wait or fork out more money for fast pass to be able to ride the rides within 5-10mins. I came with a group of 12 and it was chaos because the older kids wanted to ride all the big rollercoasters and the small kids wanted to stay in camp snoopy. We had to split up because it took over an hour just for the smaller kids to ride Woodstock express. We stayed the whole time and left the park at 10:15pm, trying to snap family photos as we were heading out the park because the queue lines for areas they set up for photos was pretty bad too. This was our first time coming and I feel very disappointed that I couldn't ride all the rides or catch the shows I wanted to. Five hours is definitely not enough time for them to be open. I wish they opened earlier for everyone to be able to catch more rides and shows. I suggest they change their hours to accommodate more people and their desire to be able to see/do more. If they would even open from let's say 2pm-10p it would help so much.

A great place for families, especially with younger children! Much more affordable and family friendly than other, larger amusement parks.Parking is FREE, it isn't too terribly busy unless a major holiday, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. We visit here from Florida once or twice each year and our now 5 year old daughter loves it. No real thrill rides or super fast, looping roller coasters here, just good, old fashioned fun with live shows and delicious fudge and a calm, laid back vibe.

We took advantage of visiting Tweetsie this year as a family over our Christmas break. The park was not overly crowded and so that enhanced our experience! There was no wait for the train and only a small line at Santa. Staff were super friendly and the park is very clean. I’d recommend this place for a fun family outing.

Tweetsie Christmas is the absolute best and well worth the cost of tickets! Staff is always so friendly and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pits, the Christmas drum ride, blizzard tunnel, the train ride and all the lights. Don't miss out on meeting Santa at the Gingerbread House! ♥️

We had another wonderful time at Tweetsie with their Christmas train. In spite of the frigid weather, my granddaughters had a spectacular time, and that is what is important. Tweetsie did have some heaters around, which really were nice.

By far the best amusement park anywhere around for young families! Clean amenities, great atmosphere, enthusiastic/friendly employees and delicious food. They also let you bring your own food which is a huge plus when visiting on a budget! And if you are visiting on a holiday, expect lots of decorations, shows & celebrations to boot!

This is the 3rd time I have visited here. But the first time I visited after marriage, before starting from Durham,I did not tell my wife to come here, because she was angry with me on Christmas Eve.But after she visited, she totally changed her mood, and really enjoyed this place . This is the first time in her life visited such a place .Her feelings are happy and scared of heights. Both really enjoy

Winding road to get to the top followed by beautiful views. The suspension bridge was safe. There are no guardrails if you climb onto the rocks for a better view, so be careful with young children and those with physical limitations such as disabilities or the elderly. Rock climbing experience not necessary to get to the top of the rock overlooks for the beautiful views. There is a nice gift shop and a mini zoo area

Go here! Great views, nice hikes, fantastic day for a family outing, date, friends, or even on your own. It's even worth a side-trip, the drive is incredible. The bridge is awesome to see and walk across. The 0.4 mile hike up to it is slightly challenging, but is totally doable as long as you can do stairs. There is a place for bathrooms and water at the top, which is great. Lots of animals to look at in nice enclosures. A fun surprise is that Forrest Gump ran one of the curves there too!

It was so much fun going up there. There was so much to see so much to do. I had the pleasure of going with the Girl Scout. Beautiful place to make memories.

It was a great evening at the grandfather trail to Galloway peak, I got to say that the trail was very enjoyable to hike, the views were spectacular and amazing, the trail to macrae peak was challenging but not hard for me and my bro the trail to Calloway it's a little far but worth it.It has been very nice parking since we came in on a Friday and it was not too crowded It was a very nice hike and I really recommend it, have a nice hike and take care out there guys.

So many things to explore and enjoy! This place is one of the must visit places in high country. Mile High Swing bridge provides a fantastic view of the Appalachian Mountains. Ice cream from Mildred’s Grill provides a great break time after hiking. Over the weekend, it gets easily crowded so plan ahead and visit early. Hiking provides a lot of scenic views and beautiful nature, so pack your hiking shoes and water.

Visiting the NC mountains (near Banner Elk) should include a trip to Grandfather Mountain to walk across the mile high swinging bridge. Breathtaking views of the mountains along with many hiking trails (some trails warn you to be experienced hikers). There are several animal habitats to view, but on this day they were sleeping. Rangers do give informative talks scheduled throughout the day. There is a cafe and restrooms along with several exhibits to view. Be sure to look through the view master devices across from the cafe to see awesome 3D photos of the mountain.I recommend you arrive early to avoid the crowds. Buying tickets on line is recommended because they can turn you away if they are at capacity. Adult tickets range from $22 to $28 and kids start at $10. To get the AAA discount you have to buy on line. Prices vary during peak season.

Fantastic experience! Love the views from this mountain and love the experience of hiking the grandfather trail and the nearby trails. You could either drive here, or hike the trails up the mountain. We chose to do the latter.Warning: Be very careful on this trail and don't be stupid. Some parts are a bit dangerous. We started off on the profile trail and at the fork, joined the grandfather trail. Then proceeded to the attic window peak, made our way down the treacherous underwood trail to reach the swinging mile high bridge. The view was amazing from both the attic window peak, through the underwood trail and at the swinging bridge. From the swinging bridge we headed back and took the MacRae peak trail, instead of the underwood trail to make our way back to the attic window. Both the Underwood trail and MacRae peak trails are quite a bit dangerous and you should not be doing anything stupid. The winds here were crazy strong in mid April and we were getting pushed around. The view from MacRae peak is spectacular! The way down from the Callaway Gap campsite the next day was relatively much easier, but took a few hours. We followed the Daniel Boone Scout trail to make our way down the mountain to the Boone fork parking area. There was a nice little stream a quarter mile from the parking lot where we swam in the freezing cold water.Overall this is one of the most exhilarating and scenic trails I've been on in NC.

One of my most favorite hikes. Take the long loop up big tom, and get the highest peaks and over looks. Wild blueberries in august and September, edible and delicious. Perfect for someone who wants beautiful scenery and a slightly challenging hike. Terrain in mild in some areas and more advanced with ropes on others. Wear appropriate clothing.

This is a late review since we visited in July of 2024 but I’d always wanted to visit and was happy when we had the opportunity. The views are breathtaking! We visited on a weekday and it was BUSY! We were surprised that by the time we finished hiking and riding that the park was so full that park rangers shut it down for the day. We’re so happy we arrived early enough to get all the activities in that we wanted to. Also, the restaurant wait time was almost an hour so we couldn’t eat there but it looked decent.

One of my favorite state parks. They have an AM radio station you can listen to for park information as you drive through. Fun and informational. The observation tower wasn't all that exciting, but the trails were very nice. The hikes are intense if you aren't used to some elevation, but worth the views.Beautiful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to get there, but make sure you plan extra time to get there. They have a restaurant, gift shop, and visitors center.

6,682 feet above sea level! The highest point east of the Mississippi River. Truly a site to behold. The hike from parking is only 300 yards easy peasy. So many sights to see on the Blue Ridge Parkway and learning about Dr. Mitchell, Big Tom and Governor Craig was well worth taking a little time to explore the museum right at the entrance to the trail up

Great viewing platform at the top of Mt Mitchell, amazing view, informational signage, hiking trails. There is a restaurant at the entrance to the park with amazing views and good food. Near the viewing platform is a museum, gift shop, restrooms and snack bar. Views may be affected by clouds, even when it is clear elsewhere . The Balsam Nature Trail is near the platform. It is listed as an easy trail, but we consider it moderate --lots of rocks, roots and hills.

Try to visit the scenic overlook later in the morning or in the afternoon. You will have a better chance of missing the possible morning fog. The path is a little bit steep but take your time and enjoy the view. It is also dog friendly.Once the fog dissipates, it is a beautiful overlookYou can camp within the state park and visit multiple viewpoints near and within the park.

The restaraunt at the top has a variety of dishes with reasonable pricing. In good weather you can drive almost to the very top. The parking lot is large and the walk to the top is 300 yards. Be sure to check out Balsam Fir trail. It is other-worldly feeling. Easy trail.

This was a fun drive up to Mount Mitchell. They have food and a gift shop at the top. There is a short but elevated walk to the top. The clouds coming over the mountain was cool. Not very busy but it was also raining on and off. There is a small museum with some good info. Tallest mountain east of the Mississippi.

Falls Park on the Reedy is a stunning park located in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. It is often referred to as the "crown jewel" of the area and offers breathtaking views of the Reedy River Falls from the unique Liberty Bridge. The bridge, which is 345 feet long and 12 feet wide, provides an incredible vantage point for visitors to admire the natural beauty of the park.
One of the reasons I moved here! One of the only single side suspension bridges in all of America! It’s quite incredible how beautiful this waterfall is running right through the middle of downtown Greenville, South Carolina. Whether it’s a cloudy day or a sunny day walking through this park is always the best part of my week. Don’t go in the water yet, as of 2025, the water still isn’t safe to swim in, but I have faith that one day it will be! I am working to create a nonprofit with my outdoor brand, Beaten Path co And my mental health brand Smile Hard Project To figure out how we can get one step closer to being able to swim in the Reedy river! How wonderful would it be for everyone to be able to swim in the reading!? Anyways plenty of places to eat and hang out or just picnic at the park. Take your friends and family here immediately if you’re visiting or if they’re visiting!! 🫶

Came here while it was raining and had the park mostly to ourselves. We had a good time walking around the paths to see the sights. The stair steps are uneven and need to be navigated with some care. Great nature place nestled in the the middle of the cityWe saw ducks, so the trip had to be good. The park looks mostly handicap accessible, though the hills can be steep and some regions of the park will likely require long routes.

A must visit place in downtown Greenville. Love the view of the waterfall and the hanging bridge. One of the weekend getaway from Atlanta. Lot of play area for kids and good restaurants nearby. We spent almost 4 hours just roaming the park. And it always crowded. It is not that deep and it has lot of spots were people can get into water and have some fun. Kids and dog friendly.

Falls Park on the Reedy River is a dream for fall family photo sessions. The golden hues of the trees, mixed with the cascading waterfall, create the perfect natural backdrop. It’s a photographer’s paradise for capturing timeless moments. What a fun time with the Bixby's!

We loved this place. The only dislike were people on bicycles flying on the walkways. One almost ran over my dog and didn't even slow down. Dog friendly, mostly peaceful with a few street musicians. Greenville is one of the most beautiful downtown areas we've visited. The park was a beautiful blend of nature, history and architecture scanning decades of design.

The friendly and helpful staff, including Dale and Riff, make for an enjoyable stay in accommodations like the Love Shack. While Take Out and One Love were closed during this visit, guests can bring their own supplies for next time.
We had a company retreat in Asheville and decided to make the drive out after hearing amazing things about USA Raft & the Nolichucky Gorge trip. All well-founded! Absolutely horrible customer service! My group was eligible for a 15% discount for lodging. At the time of my booking, months in advance of the trip, I was not aware of this but became aware a few weeks before the trip. I called and emailed repeatedly trying to get someone to issue a credit and was told that only the office manager, Tiffany could handle this. Tiffany never replied despite direct emails and messages from her employees. Two days before the trip, we were told a credit would be issued and finally thought the issue was resolved. It's now 4 weeks since the trip and no credit was ever issued. I have called 3 times since and finally spoke to Tiffany who was not even remotely understanding about her lack of professionalism and failure to address this the numerous times I had reached out. I was finally issued a store credit good for a year, but no actual refund because that is their "policy." Their "policy" also appears to be to avoid all communication when it isn't to their advantage. Very unprofessional! I feel ripped off. Buyer beware!

Such a great trip!I booked a half day rafting the Nolichucky with 7 others. None of us had much prior white water rafting experience, but honestly that made it better. Huge shout out to our guide Sprocket: he was witty, super knowledgeable, and whipped us in to ship shape fast. The whole experience lasted almost 4 hours ans was tons of fun. At the end, the group got to "surf" which involved directing the raft upstream and hang in the little water fall. Beautiful scenery in the smoky mountains and we even saw a bald eagle. Overall I highly recommend this trip

Each kid was able to get a zip lock bag full of gems with just one bucket. They each got a few things from the $1 treasure island. The prices here are great and the people that work here are so welcoming and friendly. We were able to feed the goats and play outside. We will definitely be back.

Looking Glass Falls is a picturesque waterfall known for its smooth rock surface and accessible location. Situated in the Great Smoky Mountains, it offers a quick road access, making it an ideal stop during a trip to Tennessee. While Gatlinburg may seem touristy, the journey to the falls provides opportunities to explore scenic viewpoints along the way. Visitors have described their experiences at Looking Glass Falls as magical and serene, offering a peaceful retreat from the chaos of daily life.
Beautiful falls! Easy to access, busy but found parking easily. Just a few stairs down into the platform. You can view them from above too but if able, you’ll want to come down. There’s a bench to sit or take photos. If you want a closer look you have to go through some rocks, which might be tricky if slippery or with dogs/children. So plan accordingly and wear good shoes. It’s not too tricky though, I managed to do it. Lots of dogs and families there.
Estefania F — Google review
So beautiful! We were there in mid-September. Easy access, just a handful of concrete steps down to the falls (not a hike). The falls lead into a little river that you can play in. Technically there’s a swimming hole, but there’s a sign that says there are underwater hazards and that you shouldn’t swim. I opted to veer off the steps and climb over to the lefthand side of the falls so that I could lay in the waterfall itself, and I loved every single millisecond of it! Can’t wait to go back the next time we’re in the area!

Not a bad hike at all, great overlook when it's not foggy, but fog still makes for some interesting scenes regardless.

Stopped to visit the falls. Beautiful place to visit and if you're adventurous, have a quick dip in the pool below the falls. There are stairs down to the edge of the creek to see the falls but they are fairly easy and well maintained.
Andrew M — Google review
My wife and I recently visited Looking Glass Falls within the Pisgah National Forest, and it was an experience that reminded us of nature's grandeur and raw power. The moment we stood at the base of the falls, we were enveloped by the grandeur of the scene. The sound of the cascading water, the mist in the air, and the sheer volume of water tumbling down the rock face—it was all awe-inspiring.The cooler temperature meant fewer visitors, which allowed us the luxury of solitude to fully absorb the beauty around us. This tranquility made the experience even more personal and serene. However, a word of caution for those planning their visit: the parking situation can be a bit chaotic. Drivers often make U-turns in the middle of the road to leave their parking spot, so a heightened sense of awareness is necessary when navigating this area. The descent to the falls is facilitated by well-maintained steps, which are quite manageable. There's even a bench halfway down for those needing a brief rest or a moment to appreciate the scenery from a different vantage point. This thoughtful addition shows care for visitor comfort. One practical note: ensure you use the restroom before heading out. Looking Glass Falls, while stunning, is very much a roadside attraction without the amenities one might find at more developed sites. There's no restroom or ranger station in close proximity, so plan accordingly to avoid any discomfort. The natural beauty of the falls, the tranquility of the forest, and the ease of access for a relatively intimate experience with nature make this a must-see for anyone traveling through the area.

Great waterfall with no hike required other than a few flights of stairs.Waterfall is beautiful and has a swimming /wading area down below. It was great!Very little cell phone service anywhere in the forest ...like nearly none. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a popular 5.5-mile scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, conveniently starting and ending in Downtown Gatlinburg. Along this one-way mountain route, visitors can explore preserved farms, historic cabins like the Bud Noah Ogle homestead, and picturesque waterfalls such as Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls. The trail offers opportunities for on-foot exploration with stops along the road, including hikes to both waterfalls.

Definitely worth exploring! There's a viewpoint on the trail thats a pretty popular overlook. However, it's worth stopping if you can! My favorite areas were the cabins. It felt surreal seeing what life looked like in the 1800-early 1900s.

Probably one of the best motor trails in the country, with multiple trails and parking spots. JUST PLEASE: (please just don’t idle or stop for long minutes to wildlife - people behind you are visiting for the same reason). I am writing this because I have been here at least 50 times over the last couple of years and unfortunately people from states up north tend to stop for long times until nature life vanishes creating long lines because of their lack of respect for the national park rules and others.

This is a drive, not a hiking trail but there are many hiking trails to stop at along the drive. Consider visiting the visitor center for parking passes first, there are a couple popular stops that require passes, this however is not necessary there are tons of other places to stop. Absolutely gorgeous drive. The views and sounds are majestic. The creek running along most of the road has slight falls throughout giving a very relaxing and wonderful ambiance. The road has quite a few turn offs but there are usually quite a few visitors so it's helpful to be mindful when parking. Highly recommend stopping at one of the many creek side pull offs where there are rapids in the creek. The ambiance is amazing and photos even better.

What an awesome experience to be at such a historic site!We were planning our trip to a mountain chalet in Gatlinburg for our wedding anniversary when my husband and I decided to start the trip a day sooner and pick some place between here and there to spend the night. He's my online "scavenger" and found Cumberland Gap with lodging in Middlesboro, KY.Earlier this month we were in St. Louis and experienced the Gateway Arch, gateway to the west. What better addition to our summer experience than the original "gateway" west, Cumberland Gap.We stopped at the Visitor Center first, but didn't stay long enough to fully appreciate everything they have to offer. (We arrived 15 minutes before closing.) We got our bearings, then drove to the parking area for Pinnacle Overlook. There are two ways up: paved/handicap/stroller route is to the right; steps and trail to the left near the restrooms. We took the paved route up because that's the route everyone else who pulled into the lot at the same time that we did were taking. It was an easy walk. The views are spectacular. The day we were there you could see rain in the distance. That was cool to see.I included photos of the signs at the overlook to help identify what was in the distance. After spending time at the overlook, we walked onto the opposite direction following a trail that went up some steps. That's where we found the state line.We continued on that earthen trail and it brought us back to the parking lot near the restrooms.I wanted to experience the "Saddle of the Gap" but was confused by my GPS that showed the trail to it at a location where there was no trailhead marker or parking lot. My husband said that we should be able to get to it from a lower lot, and he was correct. We parked at the Thomas Walker Trailhead and walked about half a mile on the trail until we reached the sign that identified the gap. From there we turned right up what appeared to be a side trail and found the huge stone marker for Daniel Boone's Trail. It felt so good to stand where Bison, Native Americans, explorers, and pioneers passed all those years ago.I want to return and learn more. In fact, we did return to the Visitor Center on our way back from Gatlinburg. We discovered that 25E to 321 is a less hectic route to take into and out of Gatlinburg than the usual 441 through Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. I did a little souvenir shopping after using the restrooms.

Neat place to visit. Museum needs a little more light, but other than that everything is great. Rangers were friendly and took the time to look over the kids' junior ranger books.

Smoky Mountain River Rat Main Tubing Outpost is a popular spot in Townsend, TN, offering family-friendly tubing experiences on the Little River. The outpost provides tubes for all ages and even allows dogs to tube for free. Visitors can enjoy floating down the calm waters, taking in scenic views, and experiencing relaxing rapids. Additionally, there's an option to do a rock jump along the way. The activity is perfect for cooling off during the summer months and is suitable for kids as well.
We had such a wonderful time tubing with River Rat Tubing. We did both course and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly and informative, making sure we knew that the water level was low and our experience may be a bit “rocky”. They advised us to register online in advance for a bit of a discount and we were thankful for that advice!! We will definitely be back for a return trip! A word of advice (especially if the water level is low) - Buy the stick!! It’s worth every penny!!

What an amazing adventure! The staff was exceptional! Adam was so kind and took a picture of our group- we will have that to cherish. The team told us many times the river was low and we would be walking a lot- so our expectations were prepared for that and it wasn’t that much at all! Thank you River Rat for providing exceptional service and allowing hard working people time to relax on the river and enjoy nature in the mountains!

Had a wonderful time today at River Rat! The water level was low but that didn't stop us from having a blast. My kiddos enjoyed the swimming hole and jumping off the rock. The bus ride back was great and the driver was incredibly friendly.

Fun day! We went with a group of 14 from outpost A once and outpost B twice. Water was a bit low so we did get stuck on rocks and have to get out and walk a bit. Water shoes a must. Went on a Saturday which was quiet full and we did bump into other quite a bit. Nice to have transportation back to the outlets. Would do again.

This is a great activity for many ages. They provide a tube and life jacket. If you'd like a river stick for when you get stuck it is $8. Lockers are $5. You could walk your items back to your car, but you will need some waterproof case for your car keys. Water was pretty low for us, but we did alright. Wear some type of water shoes or plain sandals. These work well as paddles if needed. We found a stick on the bank we used to push off when we got stuck. Bus was prompt in picking us up and taking us back. Mostly shaded for us except maybe last 20 minutes. There are two river establishments you can use to go tubing all day if you like. Just won't drive you between the two establishments. Cheaper if you buy tickets online the day before and show on your phone. Wear sunscreen! Goes past the Abbey restaurant which we ate at twice! Great fries! Great Pulled Pork. Great Fish & Chips! Skip the burger.

Love that we got to bring the dogs! Honestly best day of their lives. A safe course with a fun swimming hole and jump. We had a low water day and they offered to give us a refund, which was extremely nice. We did it anyway and had a blast.

The whole experience was fun. I recommend a paddle or a stick. Don't take anything like towel, purse, just you swimming suit and waterproof phone case that goes around neck. It was 6 of us. 2 of my girls are 6 and 8 and enjoyed it. The staff is wonderful and kind and answer any questions.

Absolutely phenomenal day on the river! We had a large family ranging from 7 to 45 years old. The whole operation was run so well from the moment we checked in, to the shuttle ride back. Every member of the staff was super knowledgeable and patient. We are a water family, with a ton of whitewater guide experience, and we were so impressed with every aspect of our day. The kids LOVED the rock jumping portion, while the adults enjoyed sitting in the cool, clear water. The rapids were a perfect combination of thrilling and safe, and the calm parts so relaxing. We highly recommend spending an afternoon floating with River Rat!!

Absolutely stunning scenery and we saw several animals. Mostly deer, but we also saw a coyote. Went to several of the old church’s then stopped and ate our lunch at one of the road pull offs. Very relaxing drive, will definitely come back again

Nice place to connect with Nature. The roads are well maintained. We were lucky to get a glimpse of bears and ELK. The loop road is quite long and a whole day can be easily spend there. Lot of visitors are there so driving can be little chaotic some times.

Scenic look but, One time exploration of national park pretty flat land surrounding mountains throughout. Always pretty crowded. Very slow drives. Make sure to pack some heavy snack or lunch to have at center point of loop. However driving back to Gatlinburg or Cherokee is going to feel very tired and long distance.Must have some caffeine or energy drinks for drive back.Animals: horse, pigs, black bears, few birds, maybe elk (if lucky).

This is an 11 mile on way loop. If you don’t her there early you could be sitting in lots of traffic. The day we went a car broke down and a gentleman in a convertible just parked in the road and took his keys so we were all stuck and parked for about 45 minutes. We finally got going and it was a beautiful drive with a lot of history. Ten out of ten recommend doing your homework before making the drive. You don’t want to miss a thing

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in Knoxville, Tennessee, Zoo Knoxville spans 53 acres and is home to approximately 800 animals from various parts of the world. Visitors can marvel at elephants, lions, giraffes, chimpanzees, tigers, gorillas, and bears among other creatures. The zoo offers an enriching experience with educational talks by zookeepers and engaging activities for kids such as mini-train rides and carousel adventures.
Fun family night out at "Boo in the Zoo". I have always been a fan of Zoo Knoxville. I'm continually impressed with the work Zoo Knoxville performs to make it a World class Zoo! Not only a great experience for humans, Zoo Knoxville ensures the animals are well cared for, in a secure environment. Although I have visited Zoo Knoxville many times over the years, this was my first Boo in the Zoo experience. Upon our arrival, observing the huge line of people waiting to enter, I expected complete chaos inside the Zoo. However, much to my delight, the early Saturday night event was well organized and orderly. The seasonal Halloween event was a lot of fun for both adults and children. Naturally, lots of great Halloween costumes on the adults and children. Of course, lots of complimentary candy given out, too. The entire Zoo was decorated with really cool Halloween decorations. Honestly, I had a great time (which was totally unexpected!) It was a perfect evening; great fun for families and people of all ages. Unfortunately, we didn't see many animals, which was disappointing for animal lovers, like myself. It seemed as if most of the animals were off-exbit or possibly in their shelters. The large crowd may be a detrimental issue for the animals and it may not be wise to have them on display. Regardless, Boo in the Zoo was not the best event if you're interested in observing the resident animals. My extended family did have the opportunity to observe two Giraffes and two sleeping monkeys. Otherwise, our visit to the zoo was all about Halloween. As always, the Zoo facilities look great; very clean and well maintained. There is a lot of construction in progress. It appears several new animal enclosures will be opening soon. Absolutely, Zoo Knoxville has my highest recommendation. It's a awesome facility for everyone to enjoy!
Alan H — Google review
Very nice and well maintained. Medium size and very walkable layout. Day after Thanksgiving visit. Ticket prices were discounted. Probably due to the zoo's winter transition. ( less animals to see and construction before springs prime time) Prices for food and stuff are what you expect, somewhat higher. Staff is very interactive. Overall good experience.
Joshua R — Google review
Experienced a beautiful morning at the Knoxville Zoo! Though some enclosures were small, many were thoughtfully designed and strove to make enrichment and animal comfort a priority. The zoo is heavily focused on conservation, with many exhibits marked as part of larger conservation efforts. The park was clean, well taken care of, and vibrant with energy and life. Highly recommend a stop here!
Nicholas B — Google review
Its was a pleasant experience, we went to see the red panda they were adorable. It was noon by the time we got there and it was about 90 degrees so most of the animals were hiding or in their enclosures. But still was a wonderful day. Very kid friendly. Dinosaurs are very nice. Peeps Im 30 some and I was having a blast.
Sheena M — Google review
We enjoyed our time here. However I found there to be mixed information on the encounters. Which are free and anyone can join so that's awesome. I wanted to do the sloth encounter so we got over to that area quickly and waited and eventually I asked a staff member and she said that they only do encounters on the weekends now.... which doesn't make sense if there's a schedule and you say you're gonna be able to do this. I understand not disturbing the animals so if it's not a good day that's one thing. But to just say oh yeah no we don't do them anymore during the week. Something should be advertised and they probably should also have a sign like wait here for your encounter guide or something. But we did stop back by the otters and guess what! They did that encounter! We got to watch them eat and learn about their personalities. So that was really cool.
Johna B — Google review
So I have to say I was very disappointed in the Knoxville zoo. In all fairness it was a very cold day and the day after thanksgiving. However there was hardly any vendors for food open and the animals were mostly inside. It wasn't very crowded so we made good time going through the whole zoo. I will go back on a warmer day and hopefully willl have a much more favorable impression.
Deborah C — Google review
We love the Knoxville Zoo. The layout is well-thought out and easy to get around for handicap or strollers. The only disappointment this past visit was that there was so much remodeling and/or construction going on, we missed out on seeing a good portion of animal exhibits. Most food concession stands were closed. Yet the price was the same. Seems like there should be a discount taking all of that into account.
Brenda S — Google review
We were very disappointed in this zoo.Animal enclosures were smaller than most zoos.Giraffes were walking on mostly hard service.Saw several animals that looked sad and needed medical attention. The animals were right up against the interstate with loud semis and motorcycles whizzing by.You could still hear the highway all over the zoo!My wife was so upset about the conditions that we left early about halfway through. They mowing crew was there with their loud zero turn mowers, weedeaters, and blowers going all over the place. The animals were not liking that, and we didn't either.People had to walk through the guys with the loud smokey weedeaters and blowers. The zoo closes at 4pm every day.Maybe they mow after hours?Maybe different landscaping that doesn't need mowed?Bad experience. We won't be coming back here to Knoxville.Zoo is located in a terrible neighborhood surrounded by police cars and guards!Maybe we are just use to other nice, big zoos like Indianapolis and Cincinnati, Tampa, and LA...

Very informative and interactive. The volunteer at the front desk was very knowledgeable. Lady at the gift shop was very helpful. Overall a great museum. The only downside was one employee in the James Webb area sitting on her phone playing a game loud enough that you could hear it throughout the back of the museum.

Went for our first time today on the bus tour. What they presented was very interesting, however, not enough time at the stops to look around. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but a bit too demanding. Limiting our time at stops and bathroom breaks. He was just not very approachable What we did see was very interesting. I don’t know if I’d go again.

Pretty awesome tour especially if you follow the history of the manhattan project as well as nuclear science overall. Everyone from the AMSE and the sites themselves are knowledgeable, personable and willing to listen and answer any and all questions. As former military career veteran, the “civilian” side as I know it was made more clear. Lots of “regular folk” doing their best and it is, to help maintain a strong America through military policy and within the medical and electrical sectors. You will not be disappointed.

They have STEM classes for kids, including homeschool science classes. Definitely plan to bring our kids back for future classes.

Saw Georgette Jones last nite at the Cumberland Playhouse. I enjoyed her very much, a mix of Mom and Dad yet very much a woman with her own style, very refreshing. I loved how she took her shoes off and was so much at home , relaxed. She has stayed close to her roots and fame hasn’t changed her. You are elegant in your own way, your voice is amazing so glad you were able to find your way back to singing, however nursing is very rewarding, I’m sure you were wonderful. I wasn’t able to stay to meet you for which I regret. Keep on singing, nice band members also!

This is a great venue for those, like me, who enjoy theatre, but don't want to spend the time and money traveling to see a good play or musical. The talent isn't what you would get in the cities, but the casts are always entertaining and take their craft seriously. The venue itself is a little dated, but even after a three hour musical I wasn't too uncomfortable.

The refund/exchange policy should be reviewed. We purchased our tickets for this Saturday several weeks ago. We have 8 kids. We purchased 10 total tickets and all 10 of us have the flu. The first email says NO refunds or exchanges. I called them anyway and left a message. I can barely even talk because I'm so clearly sick. They called me back and said the manager said there's nothing they can do. Through social media I fortunately found someone to buy them from me and immediately after I hang up the phone from transferring them into their name a day after they told me they can't do anything for me, I received an email saying that if you have an illness don't show up and they will exchange them for another show.

It's a wonderful park. We live nearby so we go there all the time. We take our cat on hikes with us, and she loves going there. I've been many times and still haven't gone all the way down to underneath waterfall. The hike to it is very strenuous and I forget to wear water shoes. Sometime next summer, I'll make my way down there. There's another trail that many people don't take. It goes through the woods and then around a stunning meadow. I love going to that meadow. It's packed full of blackberries and all kinds of flowers. My absolute favorite is the passion flowers. When they are in bloom, I can stop admiring them.

20241207 It's small. It has a small display of history and a gift shop. The ladies working there are nice. There are 3 trails that take you to the overlook. One on the left where the parking lot is. The other 2 started off as 1 trail on the other side of the visitors center and it branches into 2. The left one is a little more challenging, and the left is easier. You can take any of the 3 trails back to the parking lot. There's 1 trail that takes you to the bottom of the falls. Be careful if you decide to take that trail. It costs $20, and watching the safety video playing at the visitors center is highly recommended, if this is your first time.

To go, you have to buy a ticket & sit through a safety video. Safety first, as flash floods have taken many lives in the past. The slot canyon will ALLOW you to get your feet wet, and if you chose, swim in the warmer months. The hike in takes about a hour. Or you can skip that and just go to the overlook. We did both and had fun on the rocks, spotted heron & small trout. And witnessed the heron eating some fish. The waterfall was beautiful & worth the effort to see from the base of the river. Stunning! There is a driving trail to get handicapped people to the overlook - ask the person at the desk in the gift shop.Restrooms ADA compliant.

I went today, November 30 2024, and there was hardly anyone there, which meant there was nobody to get in the way of pictures! There's a gift shop and restrooms, along with 2 different routes to the waterfall. The FREE route takes you to an overlook that offers a good view(where I was at in the pictures posted with this review) and a $6 permit route which takes you to the base of the falls. The ladies in the gift shop said they don't allow permits after 2:30pm to the base, so the overlook was essentially my only option which was fine.In short, it's free to enter and walk to the overlook. It only costs if going to the base of the falls.
Alex B — Google review
The waterfall is gorgeous. I didn't walk the 3.4 miles to and from the waterfall because I didn't know that the water could get up to my hip while crossing the river. Maybe I missed that on the website. If I had known I would have bought a change of clothing.... maybe next time. I did go to the waterfall overlook- which is free. The website didn't mention that part was free either. It simply mentions that you need a $6 permit ($7 at the park) to hike to the waterfall...

Shortly after a visit to Bristol Dragway, I decided to take a detour and spend a day at this waterfall. It was a great park to explore and relax. It was quite a distance from the entrance of the park to the actual waterfall. Once you reach the destination; it is well worth the walk. There is an area to swim and there is an area to just stand underneath the waterfall. There are life jackets available for free. I would definitely recommend a day trip to this park.

Great trails for easy access to the river & 4 separate falls to see. No wading or extra effort to explore. The ADA accessible trail also says - law enforcement only - so needs some clarification, but 99% of the people walking, had a great experience as rain the night before added volume at each fall.Restroom was clean.Map to take with you could be MUCH larger concerning the trail itself.Playground d & picnic area too.

This is a really nice park with some amazing views. It has a nice playground area for kids and many trails to hike. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This being said, you must realize that there is no access to the bottom of the falls from the state park to the area where you can swim! This can only be reached by canoe or kayak. Also, the visitor center / office / gift shop is small and in a very old house. I was told it is to be demolished very soon and it may be a while before a new one is built. If there was full access to the falls, this place would be a 10 out of 5 stars, but as is, the Kernel rates: 4/🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

This beautiful area of Tennessee is a must see!! Burgess Falls is so amazing and the hike to it is relatively easy to navigate aside from a bunch of stairs (towards the end). There are so many cascades along the way on this trail, its easily one of my favorites ever.If you're in the area, check out other waterfalls in the area like Cummins Falls, Fall Creek Falls (which there are several in this park), Rock Island State Park, etc. Cookeville is the main city near all these & its a good place to grab food, shop or stay in a hotel.

There are 2 hiking options running parallel. 1 is an invigorating hike and 1 a less strenuous option. Both will get you to the overlook area. If you want a challenge, keep going past the overlook area and down to the top of the falls. The rocks at the top of the Falls allow you to sit and enjoy the sounds of the falls. The overlook area gives a great view of the falls, and you realize how big and high they are. Nice big area to rest at overlook.Restrooms are near the parking area with a shelter with picnic tables. If you worked up an appetite, visit the barn at the turn before the Falls they have good food and great sweet tea.

We took a quick trip to Burgess Falls State Park on Saturday afternoon. We arrived late and were trying to outrun a storm so we didn't get to go all the way down to the other falls but the short hike we were able to do was very beautiful. The trail that runs along the river is not for individuals with super limited mobility, especially not wheelchair accessible. However there is a handicap accessible overlook towards the beginning of the trail. There were plenty of well behaved dogs and the children were having a blast too so it's a great place for a family outing.

Free guided tours are also offered on weekends, including ranger-led walks or car caravan drives through the vast battlefield. For a unique experience, visitors can join Saturday morning bicycle tours during summer and early fall.
What a beautiful battlefield. When you look at the historical significance it might be hard to fathom what happened here. Thousands of men lost their lives fighting for something they believed in. The grounds are well kept and very organized. The route is drivable with parking set at the different spots. Many opportunities to explore and take pictures. Immerse yourself in Americas history

I never have enough time to enjoy or just ramble through the Battlefields. This one deserves as they all do the time. The interpretive center is great and the staff very friendly and of course knowledgeable. The driving tour was very full of information as you download the NPS App and stop at the designated # stops. At stop #2 The Slaughter Pen you get a feeling of somberness as you approach it following a nicely paved walkway. The photos are of stop #2. Some of what's in the interpretive center. If your close or are planning a vacation and your in the area stop by and learn from and of the past. Enjoy, I certainly did.

My friends and I decided to take the driving tour through Stones River National Battlefield and we were not disappointed by the amount of knowledge we gained from the signs, guided phone tour, and park rangers in the visitors center. If you love history and are in the area, visiting this battlefield is a must. I am still haunted by "slaughter pen" (pictures below) and imagining what it must have been like to fight there. The cemetery is located across the street from the exit that is nearest to the visitors center.

Wonderful Visitors Center and exhibits. The quiet awe I felt entering and walking the Slaughter Pen area was as if I entered sacred grounds and felt the need to walk slowly and speak quietly. This as with all Battlefields in my opinion is not to be missed.

We had a great experience here.Felt like we lived through the war when the muskets were fired numerous times. Beautiful place to see and feel the historic significance first hand.Facility was well maintained. Parking was adequate and crowds were entertained and pleased to be there. Entry is FREE.

Great history exhibits, markers and trails. Definitely a worthwhile stop to experience history and have a beautiful walk

I love that the trails here are heavily wooded, quiet, and safe. It's also very easy to do a loop that doesn't take a lot of time. There's even a scenic driving route. Pretty cool! Dog friendly! Stroller friendly! Challenging, longer hikes are available as well. All of that is well and good, but what really made this location stand out the historical signage explaining the significance of what had happened there during the Stones River Battle.

This park is awesome. Unfortunately, the history behind it is not, but the presentation of the history and historical facts at the time is just great. It is also horrifying at times to realize what those soldiers went through.I highly recommend taking in the whole park. It is truly an experience. The slaughter pen is unbelievable, especially when you realize the horrifying battle that occurred there. The folks at the visitor center were extremely helpful and friendly.Do not miss out on this park for sure if you are in the area.

Nashville, also known as the capital of country music, is a vibrant city with a rich history and diverse entertainment scene. Visitors can explore various historical sites such as Fort Nashborough, Fort Negley, the Parthenon, Tennessee State Museum, and the Hermitage. The city offers sophisticated dining options and a lively atmosphere for all interests. One of its main attractions is the Grand Ole Opry, where both classic and contemporary country acts perform in weekly live radio shows.
Everyone should go at least once. A first rate venue and the performances are fantastic as well. Easy in and out, easy to find your seats and it is all well done. Seating is on pews like in a church, makes for a friendly, get to know your neighbor experience which is great. You are not confined to a seat of some standard width. The music and visuals are great, the acoustics are fantastic

I'll preface this review with the fact that I didn't get the opportunity to watch an event in this music venue, or even walk inside for that matter because when my family and I visited, it was closed with only the gift shop open to the public. So this review is just a placeholder for now until our next visit, when I/we (hopefully) will have the time to experience a live music event. With that said, we did walk around the property and inside the gift store and the entire experiencewas phenomenal. To be able to finally visit an area where there's history in the making is always unique and I'm appreciative of all the men and women who maintain this type of legacy for others to rememberand experience. The employees at the gift store were extremely friendly (go figure right?). The prices were typical gift shop prices but in my opinion, were worth every dollar especially if you're into this type of stuff.Typically, my reviews are long and robust but I'll have to keep this one short since I don't have any feedback to share about the venue itself. I did enjoy the many photo opportunities you have outside of the structure and the beautiful landscape throughout. If I'm able to attend one of the shows in the future, I'll be sure to update this review. If you're able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime venue, I suggest you do. As of now, I'll blindly recommend this place to everyone.

Attending a show here is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of music, history, and tradition that leaves you feeling inspired and connected to the roots of American culture. We saw the debut of Maggie Baugh who did an outstanding job and certainly has a future in country music. We also saw Rhonda Vincent, Riders in the sky, Billy Dean, Mark & Maggie O’Connor, Brian Bates, Clay Walked, and Don Schultz. From the moment you step inside, the energy is electric. The seating offers great views from every angle, so you feel close to the action no matter where you are.Attending the Grand Ole Opry is a bucket-list experience that we’ll never forget.

This place is like coming to church. The benches were like there are at church, the vibe seems to be the same and I even got a tear in my eye when Trace Adkins sang you're gonna miss this. The evening was full of surprise appearances and fantastic music. Growing up I always thought the Grand Ole Opry was for old people but I was either wrong or I am getting old. This place seemed like pure music magic. I recommend going over and over again.

Went to the Christmas show. We got there about an hour before the show and had no problem finding parking. We parked in the Mall parking lot and it wasn't that far to walk. The decorations were beautiful and so glad we decided on seeing the Opry Christmas Show. I do think buying tickets beforehand is the best option. We plan on returning next year.

Very comfy laid back venue. Seating is very comfortable and well lit. The hot food we tried was good for venue food. Popcorn was generous and well made salt butter ratio in the kettle (I'm a popcorn snob and very picky), although keep in mind on the saltier side which I don't mind. Venue sound quality is excellent as you'd hope for the type of place, though not sure if by choice but maybe on the quieter side. But I guess it goes with the comfortable theme and it's always good to leave a concert without ringing ears. Every worker we met with were very helpful and kind! We appreciate you.

What an amazing place! History pours from every corner of this historic building. We were delighted when we heard that Keith Urban was going to play the night we were there. What a showman! I am not a big country music fan but my husband and father-in-law are. I was just excited for the experience. To my surprise, Nicole Kidman was there to see her husband. I jumped to my feet so far when she walked out. What a night. We took the back stage tour after the show. It was spectacular. To hear the stories behind the longest running radio show was very entertaining and informative. We even had the opportunity to stand in the circle. If you know, you know.

Great place for music with a rich history. Get tickets in advance for assigned seating. The benches are comfortable. Parking is free at the mall across the street but busy. Adjacent parking is $25. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and park.

We visited the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville, TN, and it was absolutely worth the trip! We traveled to Nashville for two days specifically to see the museum, and it did not disappoint. The displays were expansive and packed with fascinating history. I learned so much during our visit and especially loved seeing the Luke Combs exhibit—it was massive and a real treat, as he’s one of my favorite singers. Other highlights included Elvis Presley’s iconic Cadillac and the incredible music from earlier decades, which reminded me of the roots of country music that I truly love. While not all modern country music appeals to me, I know everyone has their preferences, and that’s part of what makes the genre so diverse. We also took the Studio B tour, and I highly recommend it! Studio B is the first recording studio in Nashville, where legends like Elvis recorded their hits. Our guide was phenomenal—his knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious, and he gave us a deeper understanding of how the studio shaped the "Nashville Sound." It was fascinating to see the history come alive through his stories. The museum has so much to offer that I wish I could have stayed longer, but it’s a lot to take in, and my legs couldn’t keep up with all the walking and standing. If you’re planning a visit, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to soak it all in. And don’t miss the Studio B Tour—it’s an experience you won’t forget!

I’d go back if it would quit raining and I didn’t have to go home (Florida). It was so beautiful inside the main Church. I sat in a pew, started looking around and was mesmerized in all the beauty.. so much that I completely lost track of time. It’s something you just have to see in person. No tickets are needed. Everything, except the gift shop items, are completely free.Say your prayers, ask for forgiveness and enjoy everything - ALL religions are welcome.

Awesome!!! We showed up about and hour and a half before they closed, and we still wanted to see more before we had to go. Great music, great artifacts, and great interactability. I would definitely plan to be there for a couple hours, as there is so much to see, hear, and do! Will definitely be going back when I return to Nashville.

A wonderful place to visit. The Taylor Swift Education Center (with its scavenger hunt and its many other activities) is great for kids, many great exhibits and artefacts (lots of good items from Elvis and others), the mock recording studio was a lot of fun for my child, and I loved seeing the many exhibits and displays. The hall of fame and seeing all the records was really cool. I quite enjoyed it :)

I'm not even into country music, but it was a very impressive museum, and I now have a greater appreciation for country music and all the hard work that goes into it. The museum was large, spacious, and clean. Very crowded on a weekend, but you have to expect that. We got to see everything we wanted to and there was no rush. Just take your time and wander around and enjoy. Paid parking is readily available, just use Google maps and plan ahead of time. We also walked over to Broadway for dinner afterwards, which was also convenient

Where to even begin? It's absolutely the best sounding venue I've ever seen any performance.Period. End of discussion. They're really proud of their drinks. Be warned!Took the tour the following day, and it's just a delightI will definitely revisit them.Nashville is one cool city.

I visited with my child and it was a great time. They had a nice Elvis exhibit on the second floor as well. The auditorium was great to see (they were setting up for as show in the afternoon). Seeing the posters and costumes throughout was also nice (with many signed posters by musicians who played there). My child and I really liked having the photo on the stage (which is included with the ticket). I would highly recommend a visit. It was great to see :)

We took a tour of the Ryman Auditorium and had a great few hours. It was full of great history of the building itself, along with some of the star performances that have been on stage. It is also filled with priceless artifacts and you even get a chance to get your picture on stage yourself! The gift shop is large and has many different things to help you remember the great times you had in Nashville.

Had a wonderful experience at the Ryman Auditorium! So much fun, humor, and talent! The after show tour was worth the opportunity to learn more history and stand on the Grand Ole Opry stage! A must do when in Nashville!

Self guided tour on 10/30/24. Ticketing via website and then app is easy enough. There’s a short film to start with about how the Ryman started; very interesting and well produced. Then you walk around and check out the exhibits and the actual venue. There was a concert loading in and that was interesting to watch too. Chet Atkins’ guitar was a highlight for me.Plenty of options in the gift shop naturally. All the staff were wonderful too.I’m very glad I went.

Loved the theater and its nice staff. Beautiful for any concert or show. Even seated in section R, I didn't feel too far from the stage. The venue is well constructed for everyone to see everything... except if you get a seat directly in front of a pole.
